Capturing relationships and how people express love with Dallas TOP PHOTOGRAPHER - Dallas Metro Moms

I am a 30-something who moved to Dallas about 5 years ago before Covid. Before then I lived in Brooklyn for over 9 years. I have a 1 year old and a 2 year old, and I work out of my home studio most days. I am an educator and world traveler and am constantly inspired by music, travel, and my clients.

I’ve been in business for over 12 years and still absolutely love what I do which I do not take lightly. On top of my regular sessions I’m currently launching a course for photographers later this year and am also hosting mini sessions for entrepreneurs and families in the fall. It’s really been an exciting year for me since it’s the first time in over two years that I’m not pregnant.

I specialize in capturing moments of joy and love through timeless imagery and storytelling. With an eye for detail and a passion for creating magical memories, I am dedicated to providing luxury and unique experiences to my couples.

What is your Branding Philosophy?

I’ve started as a brand photographer with Hilary Rushford. I realized I loved seeing businesses grow and enjoyed being a part of the process and the journey.

Do not hire a brand photographer if you do not have a brand. Sounds pretty self explanatory but you’d be surprised how many people think a photographer can tell them how their business should look or how they should show up.

Each branding client has a different aesthetic based on their brand. This could be using natural light instead of flash or changing up the preset I use. I have every client fill out a 15 page branding guide that lets me know who their clients are and what the goals of the images are.

I also have them assemble a shot and prop list that ensures nothing gets forgotten. I make sure that I’m aware of what images need to be horizontal, vertical, or even have blank space for text. We put the most important images at the front of the shot list.

The props are such a crucial component of a shoot and you can always return items that you won’t use in the future.

We also do outfit changes so that it looks like you had multiple shoots instead of just one over a few short hours. If you want to go big I do recommend hiring hair, makeup, and even a stylist if you have that in your budget. Your photographer cannot be everything so if you have the budget it’s best to build out a small team.

You can also go to some department stores and they will provide a stylist if you spend a certain amount.

How can we get to this point in finding our style?

Light is the number one thing in finding your style. Do you prefer sunrise, direct sunlight, golden hour, night shots?

Then there is movement. Do you like static poses, fluid movement, or a mix of both.

Every photographer should have 5 signature photographs. This is something the client can expect and they usually ask for these images before the session.

Presets are a way to consistently show up and show off your style. My style is emulating fuji film so I don’t have a ton of contrast and add grain.

How can we get more people’s attention with our photography?

  • Be authentic. People can smell someone trying too hard a mile away even through the Internet.
  • If you don’t love what you do no one else will, just have fun.
  • Constantly be testing and make sure to review your analytics. Likes and views aren’t everything. You want to look at shares, comments, and saves as well.
  • If you get a question a bunch of times then add it to your content even if it’s something like how did you meet your partner? People are interstied in people.

How does your membership work? How can people benefit from it?

It takes time and energy to market your business consistently. When you’re spending all of your time in the day-to-day of your work, it’s easy to put marketing on the back burner. It’s no surprise we see so many businesses use the same 13 photos for their marketing and branding for years!

Simply put you have me as your photographer for an entire year. You have a total of 8 hours in the membership and you can split that any way you’d like. You can do 2 hour sessions every quarter or even do 2 4-hour sessions.

This is for people that:

You have a solid marketing plan, but your visuals don’t match the direction of your business

“Good enough” isn’t working for your business anymore, and you know someone else can do it better.

It is taking too much of your time to create consistent content and you’re not getting the professional, polished look you want

You’re planning a massive launch this year but don’t have the ideal photos or videos you need to promote it

It’s time to kick your marketing up a notch! You’re tired of using outdated images and selfies with inconsistent lighting and editing styles.
